Reply from pilotmike: Hi Kelly, thanks for stopping by! There was no written exam on either G1000 checkout I&#039;ve done. Both of my G1000 checkouts (C172 &amp; DA40) have had separate VFR and IFR components. It depends on the flight school / insurance what the exact checkout requirements are.
